Il gioco promette un'esperienza RTS mista allo strategico a turni grazie al sistema "Pianifica e Vai", ambientazioni nel mondo dei mercenari e una riproduzione fedele delle meccaniche del combattimento tattico.
Back in Action trasporterà i giocatori ad Arulco, paese immaginario dove uno spietato dittatore ha preso il potere, riducendo l'opposizione a un pugno di ribelli. Incaricati di liberare l'isola dal pugno di ferro del tiranno, i giocatori saranno alla guida delle forze ribelli e mercenarie e dovranno utilizzare strumenti tattici ed economici per mantenere le proprie truppe sempre pronte a combattere.
